At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to doubling our SNAP customers' buying power when they shop at The People's Market and at our sister market, the year-round Corner Farmers Market.  The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program--formerly known as food stamps--is widely recognized as the nation's most effective anti-hunger program. 

Our double SNAP program not only makes it easier for SNAP customers to feed their families with fresh, seasonal, local foods, it represents a substantial reinvestment in our local grassroots food economy. 

 In 2021 our two markets matched close to $37,000 in SNAP benefits, which translates into $74,000 reinvested in our small-scale entrepreneurial growers, makers and baker.  It looks at though 2022 we may get close to $50,000--that's $100,000 in buying power.
